A friend on yea ol’ Facebook invited me to this stupid event called Red Friday. It’s supposed to get people together to wear red every Friday in support of troops and their family.
Don’t get me wrong, I support Troops and their family, not out of any sense of patriotism, but because they are people are being put through some severely trying times that will impact their lives forever. Also, because the amount of compensation they get from their “bosses” is pretty much SHIT!
Anyhoo, I was on board for a minute (I wont wear red or anything but I wasn’t all snarky about it) until the stupid event said something to the like of “I’m still a red-blooded patriot that supports troops and family” or something like that. That pisses me.
Mostly, it annoys me, that people assume that, because one is opposed to war, one does not support the people fighting it and, furthermore, that supporting troops entails any sense of patriotism. It doesn’t. It entails a love of humanity and, frankly, a dislike of war in the sense that you feel bad for anyone who has to endure it.
Anyhoo, just a bit of a rant cuz it got me a bit worked up.
