So, my sister, despite all of our protests, went back to school.  We protested because it just really wasn’t the right time for her but, her hubby, kept puttin the pressure on and she got tired of arguing.  Don’t get me wrong, school is a great idea for her but, like I said, not the right time. Ultimately, she has so many things going on in her life that I’m just not sure she is going to get from going back to school what she needs.

Anyhoo, she’s in school and, obviously, has quite a bit of writing going on.  My sister is a very intelligent person but, to be honest, she has always had a problem organizing her thoughts and arguments in any coherent way.  Frankly, she often comes off as kind of a airhead but, she isn’t.  She’s super smart it’s just, well, the execution has always been a problem with her.

Point of story? Well, since she’s been back in school I’ve been getting calls at the wee hours of the morning (she’s 3 hours ahead of me and forgets….sigh) for help on writing her papers.  As much as I miss my lost hours of sleep I’ve actually enjoyed doing this.  Usually, when we start, she’a a mess.  All these ideas going everywhere and she can’t figure out how to put them together but then, with a little organizational help from me, she sees what she has to do and then gets all excited/happy about her topics.  I love going through that. Also, I just love discussing issues/topics cuz it makes me feel like I’m in school again.

After these early morning calls, I often feel validated for spending so much time and money on a Private Liberal Arts Education (PlAE or…PLEA..lol). It doesn’t seem like much but I love the fact that my schooling is allowing me to help my sister move forward in her life.  Also, it gives me a sense that, yes, I did learn something that I can use to teach people, you know? You leave school confident in your own skills but can you really relay those same skills to others? Well, these opportunities have shown me that, yes, I can.

Si se puede!
